The Commission has the power to comment on the Police Department budget and to recommend changes.

The Commission is responsible for conducting a search and submitting three candidates for the Superintendent of Police to the Mayor of the City of Chicago (MCC 2-80-080). This report details how the Commission recruited, interviewed, and determined the three Superintendent candidates to submit to the Mayor.
