1 The Commission will research national best practices around non policing alternatives to public safety.
2 The Commission will raise awareness in Chicago about alternate responses to policing and ensure that the community has a voice in how Chicago implements alternate response programs.
3 The Commission will support Community Violence Intervention (CVI) work and raise awareness of its effectiveness for reducing and preventing violence—especially gun violence—in communities that experience high levels of violent crime
4 The Commission will advocate for the city and state’s continued investment in CVI programs.
5 Advocate for more resources to support youth services.
6 The Commission will explore ways the city can reduce recidivism through community-centered strategies that address root causes.
