Anthony Driver Jr. to Step Down as President of the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA)

Date:

August 29, 2025

CHICAGO- Commissioner Anthony Driver Jr. announced that he will step down as President of the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA). Commissioner Driver notified the Commission of his intention to step down from his role as President at the CCPSA’s monthly meeting on August 28, 2025.

Commissioner Driver will remain a member of the Commission and continue to carry out his duties as a Commissioner.

Driver was initially elected by CCPSA Commissioners to serve as President in September 2022, following the establishment of the interim Commission under the CCPSA ordinance, and was subsequently elected President by the permanent Commission when its members took office in June 2024.

Per ordinance, the Commission is required to select a President and Vice President from among its members. When a vacancy occurs, an election is held during a regularly scheduled Commission meeting.

At an upcoming public meeting, Commissioners will nominate a candidate or candidates to serve as president and then vote to elect a president at the next meeting. VicePresident Remel Terry will assume leadership duties until a successor is chosen.

“The work of the Commission has always been bigger than one person,” said Commissioner Driver. “It has been an honor to serve as the first President, and I look forward to continuing to serve as Commissioner alongside my colleagues as we continue to build on this important foundation.”
