Anna Rubin

Chair

Anna Rubin is the Chair of the 20th Police District Council. She lives in Andersonville in a queer, Jewish, social justice co-op, and is the Political Director at the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs. She was born in raised in Pittsburgh, and has lived in Chicago since 2015. As part of her work at JCUA, Anna had the opportunity to witness the years-long fight to pass what became the Empowering Communities for Public Safety ordinance, which created these district council positions. Now that she is in one of the district council roles, Anna hopes to use her community organizing background to support and implement alternative methods for public safety that are community based and that do not rely on police, incarceration, and punitive practices.
