With a profound commitment to uplifting the concerns of her neighbors and fostering unity, her efforts are firmly rooted in the principles of family, community, and integrity.
Recognizing the pivotal role of proactive engagement with youth, Angelica took the initiative to establish Proactive Youth—an organization aimed at providing enriching experiences for the children of her community. Through initiatives focused on education, cultural enrichment, and positive reinforcement, Proactive Youth empowers youth, particularly those whose caregivers may face barriers in providing such opportunities.
In a historic milestone, Angelica made history as the first Black woman to serve on the 25th Police District Council. Alongside her esteemed colleagues, she tirelessly advocates for community-based solutions to combat violence, actively listening to the concerns of her neighbors and organizing meetings to address them. Collaborating with elected officials, Angelica champions initiatives to enhance the quality of life in the district, securing vital funding and resources to support her community.
As a neighborhood ambassador for Police Initiatives in the 25th District and a block leader for several blocks, Angelica is deeply invested in effecting positive change at the grassroots level, fostering connections and promoting safety and harmony. For more than two decades, Angelica has dedicated herself to serving individuals with developmental disabilities, notably through her work at Misericordia.
Her contributions have been instrumental in developing specialized programs tailored to the unique needs of non-ambulatory individuals, ensuring they lead fulfilling lives of dignity and joy. Yet, amidst her myriad accomplishments, Angelica finds her greatest pride and inspiration in her three children—kind, intelligent individuals who serve as a constant reminder of the importance of her ongoing journey in community advocacy and service.
In every endeavor, Angelica remains unwavering in her commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive community where every voice is heard, valued, and uplifted. Her tireless efforts stand as a beacon of hope and empowerment, inspiring others to join her in the pursuit of a brighter tomorrow for all.
