The CCPSA ordinance allows the Commission to access any information, documents, data, or records held by the Police Department, COPA, the Police Board, or any other City agency when needed to do its job, as long as it complies with the law. If the Commission asks for records and an agency refuses to provide them, that agency must send a written explanation. The Commission is then required to post that explanation on its website.
