The Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability is currently in the process of selecting the next Chief Administrator of the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA). Under Chicago law, the Commission is responsible for selecting the person who will serve a four-year term as the Chief Administrator of COPA.

Community Engagement
The Commission must make its selection based on strong community input and engagement. Feedback from the public will inform the development of interview questions and the scoring rubric used to evaluate candidates.
As part of the search process, the Commission held four public listening sessions across the city to gather input from residents.

In addition to public meetings, the Commission is also engaging with:
- COPA staff
- Law enforcement professionals
- Experts in police oversight and accountability
Once the process concludes, the Commission will issue a public report outlining the search process and decision-making criteria.
