Non-Citizen Advisory Council

Non-Citizen Advisory Council (NAC)

The Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability has established a Non-Citizen Advisory Council (NAC) — a volunteer group of Chicago residents who help ensure that the perspectives and experiences of non-citizen and newly arrived Chicagoans are meaningfully represented in the Commission’s work.

We are currently accepting applications to fill multiple vacancies on the NAC.

All Chicagoans are encouraged to apply, regardless of immigration status. We especially welcome applications from non-citizen residents and individuals who advocate for immigrant and refugee communities.

Your privacy is important to us. Applicants will not be asked to disclose their immigration status or share personal information with any government agency.

Role of the Non-Citizen Advisory Council

The NAC provides guidance to the Commission to help ensure that:

  • The voices of noncitizen Chicagoans are reflected in our public safety work
  • Department-led programs such as CAPS and other community policing initiatives are inclusive and responsive
  • The Commission’s policies and procedures are community-informed
  • The Department is held accountable for compliance with its adopted policies
