Lovie Bernard is a mother, grandmother, cancer survivor and a 51-year South Deering/Jeffery Manor community resident. She attended Forestville North Elementary, John Marshall High School, and the University of Illinois Circle Campus, majoring in Political Science. She is a precinct captain and community liaison for the 7th Ward. She works tirelessly with the 7th Ward staff, the 4th District CAPS team, and District Coordination Officers (DCOs) to identify and address issues in the community that affect her neighbor’s quality of life. She is a member of the South Deering Manor Community Association, a volunteer at the Retired Seniors Association, and a Jesse Owens Senior Walkers member. Lovie retired from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange after 20 years of service.
