Alexander Perez is a dedicated professional with a passion for community engagement and social equity. Hailing from the east side of Aurora, Illinois, Alexander’s journey is marked by a commitment to education, public service, and advocacy.

After graduating from East Aurora High School, Alexander pursued higher education at Columbia College Chicago, earning his Bachelor of Arts (BA). He continued to excel academically and completed his MBA at Aurora University, demonstrating his dedication to personal growth and leadership.

For seven years, Alexander made significant contributions to the public sector. He played a pivotal role in the City of Aurora, serving in the Department of Communications under the Mayoral office. Later, he assumed the role of Director of Community Affairs for the West Aurora School District, further strengthening his ties to the local community. One of the highlights of Alexander’s career is his involvement in the cannabis industry as a social equity applicant and champion of equity and social justice within the new growing industry. His commitment to equitable access and opportunities in this burgeoning field reflects his dedication to social justice.

In 2017, Alexander made the move to Chicago, opening up a new chapter in his career. He became actively engaged with advocacy organizations, including Chicago NORML and Equity and Transformation. Continuing his community based work that he started in Aurora. Currently, Alexander Perez serves as one of the new Police District Councilors for the City of Chicago, representing the 2nd Police District. In this role, he continues to contribute to the well- being and safety of his community, ensuring that the voices of the residents are heard and their concerns addressed.
